Ponderosa Elementary Wins Mini Grant Award from Rotary

Dean Fender, Board President of the Paradise Rotary Foundation (PRF) shown here with  Amy Keene and Zina Bonham,  kindergarten teachers at Ponderosa Elementary School  were awarded a $1200 Mini Grant for the four kindergarten classes at their school at last Thursdays Paradise Rotary meeting. The money represents mini grants for elementary school teachers to purchase items for their classrooms. The items must be solely for the classroom use, sustainable (usable in succeeding years), for direct student use and must stay in the classroom they were awarded to. Each year the grants went to a specific grade beginning with the 5th grade down to kindergarten. Over the past 6 years the PRF has placed $24,000 in the hands of Paradise grade school classrooms.  The money awarded Ponderosa Elementary School kindergarten classrooms will be used to purchase “Bots” which help students learn the basics of coding. A skill they will surely need in future.
